Kansas City
The Kansas City FEB covers the counties that comprise the Kansas City Metro, which spans 2 states and is responsible for overseeing over 160 departments and agencies. We employ over 38,000 civilians, military personnel, and postal workers. The top five agencies with the highest number of employees are the Department of Defense, U.S. Postal Service, Department of Treasury, Department of Veteran Affairs and the United States Department of Agriculture.
About This FEB
We have several phenomenal federal properties including the Harry S Truman Library and Museum, Richard Bolling Federal Building, Charles Evans Whittaker U.S. Courthouse, Robert J. Dole Courthouse, Internal Revenue Service Kansas City Campus, Whiteman Air Force Base and Fort Leavenworth Army Post. Amazing Fact: Fort Leavenworth was built in 1827 and is oldest active Army post west of the Mississippi River and the third oldest active post!
In addition to these properties, we are also home to Haskell Indian Nations University, which was founded in 1884 and is the oldest continually operating federal school for Native Americans, where approximately 140 tribal nations and Alaska Native Communities study
