South Florida
The South Florida Federal Executive Board (SFFEB) was established in 1969 and consists of the senior official of each department or agency located throughout the state of Florida. There are 438 federal agencies representing over 100, 000 civilian, military, and postal employees. The South Florida Federal Executive Board (FEB) focuses on coordinating Governmental policy on matters affecting the local Federal community, providing leadership in the sharing of services between agencies, and participating as a unified Federal force in local civic affairs.
About This FEB
Florida is rich with federal historical landmarks. A number of American space exploration pioneers were launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) including the first U.S. Earth satellite (1958), first U.S. astronaut (1961), first U.S. astronaut in orbit (1962), first two-man U.S. spacecraft (1965), first U.S. uncrewed lunar landing (1966), and first three-man U.S. spacecraft (1968). It was also the launch site for all of the first spacecraft to (separately) fly past each of the planets in the Solar System (1962–1977).
St. Augustine, FL was founded by Spain in 1565 and is the oldest permanent European settlement on the mainland of North America, north of Mexico. Its long colonial history extends to 1822, when Spanish East Florida was annexed to the United States as part of the Florida Territory. Roughly half of the area's buildings were built before 1925, with a substantially large number in either Spanish Colonial or Moorish Revival styles.
Truman Little White House Located in Key West, Florida, was the winter White House of President Harry S. Truman — although it initially served as a command-and-control center for the U.S. Navy back in 1890. Since then, five other Presidents have spent time here, although none quite captured people’s minds like Truman did.
